Frida Kahlo: A Magical realist

Frida Kahlo was born on 06 July 1907. It has been 113 years since the birth of this legendary Mexican painter. She is one of the greatest iconic painters of her time, I really admire her works which portrayed uniqueness and surreal beauty.

The free-spirited painter Frida Kahlo who was immortalized in her series of self-portraits is a role model till today. By embracing her deformities, she broke all the societal backdrops in the 19th century by her own.

Kahlo’s work was praised by surrealist André Breton and painter Marcel Duchamp, who arranged exhibitions for her quite a number of times which portrayed some beautiful bond of colors with Mexican folk art.

Frida Kahlo was considered as one of the most authentic and greatest artists till date which consisted of  mostly self portraits whilst in a body cast.
An accident during her teens left her in a great deal of pain, while bed-ridden, she started painting to spend her leisure, she mostly inspired from the Mexican art and crafts of her times.

Having painted 143 paintings in her lifetime, 55 of which were self-portraits, Frida Kahlo trule redefined the meaning of paintings with vibrant colors allthrough and with a sublime beauty of handiwork in it.
Alongside her memorable artworks, she was also recognized for her fashion sense likewise her colorful Mexiacan dresses.
